Ok all,
First ... I have about had it with my own ignorance and the depth of knowledge one needs to function in today world, particularly the world of 1911 ownership.
I have a Colt Combat Commander, apparently a Series 80. I purchased a Kimber .22 Conversion Unit for it, all excited that I could practice till my little heart was content. Problem ... the Kimber is for a Kimber gun or Series 70 1911 models ... The Series 80s have some little sear mechanism that rises with the trigger pull, so the unit has too much metal in the rear of the slide for this mech to work.
What the $%&^ is the difference between Series 70s and 80s? Also, would you consider just cutting out some metal from the rear of the slide to accomodate the mechanism? This will most likely void any warranty from kimber at the least.
Will the Ciener units work on my CCC?
Ugghghghg .... this is so frustrating .... it had been a bad week. See my posts under shotgun and General Discussion for insights into my current state of mind.
