DISREGARD.......MUST RETURN TO FACTORY.......

I took my Springfield Armory 1911 with the above conversion kit to the range for the first time today. The first 250 rounds of Bulk Federal 550's went through it like a house afire. I then rapid fired two mags without a hitch. Then the problem reared its ugly head. The next mag failed to feed. The bullet is hidden within the chamber but appears to stop at the beginning of the jacket. The rim (rear) of the cartridge is under the firing pin which is still extended. This appears to be causing the cartridge to be at too great an angle to properly enter the chamber. It appears that it should be located higher and fitted into the oval indention at the front of the bolt. Also the rear of the firing pin is visible looking into the rear of the bolt but is too low to allow it to extend to where the hammer will contact it. However, when I align the shell properly into the chamber, it is a great fit and will fall out without any problem. And the pistol will then fire that round.

Now for the question of the day.....at what point does the firing pin retract into the bolt so the next round can be fired. Anyone familiar with this situation ?? I attempted to call Kimber but it was after hours....
