Kimber custom II holster

I am just wondering......

Will a kydex or other polymer holster tear up the finish on my Kimber custom II? I have a stainless revolver that I use kydex to darry and it has left some marks on the finish - I know that these are working guns and it shouldn't matter, but I'm willing to spring for the leather if it will take better care of my .45.

Suggestions? Thoughts? Any other materials I haven't thought of?

Nylon will be easiest on the finish, but is also the worst for retention.

Kydex can be hard on finishes, especially if any kind of dirt or grit gets in between the holster and the gun.

Quality leather will keep moisture out almost as well as kydex, it's more flexible and therefore more comfortable, and it won't damage the finish - unless you buy a FIST like I did, in which case it may eat chunks out of your finish and pit your slide The CompTac C-Tac is kydex but with leather straps connecting the belt clips so it's flexible but still made of kydex...pretty cool IMO.

Personally, I quit caring about the finish on my carry guns after my FIST holster ruined the bluing on my Kimber. It's a work gun, it's not supposed to be pretty.

Liquid, what about the FIST made it eat the Kimber's finish? I do admit that Kimber's matte bluing, or black oxide, is rather tender. Mine was showing holster wear after placing it in the Galco two or three times to get it stretched to fit correctly, before it was ever worn on my hip.

Rock Steady, leather will take better care of your weapon, and your hip.

Finish and Kydex

I've seen blueing come off plenty of handguns while using leather holsters ... not sure if Kydex is better or worse for that. I think, being fair, Kydex is a better holster as far as a utilitarian point of view is concerned:
