Well today I got to finally take my new TLE to the range. First off I changed out the stock rubber grips. I really dislike these. They seemed to get rather slick rater quickly. I replaced them with a set of Kimber Rosewood grips. I like these better. The trigger on this gun was a little heavier than on my 25ht anniversary Custom. It was closer to the trigger on my Tac Pro (which I got rid of to finance the TLE). The slide to frame fit is tight, Really, really tight. I was pleasently surprised in this aspect. Next to my Custom built springer, this is the tightest fitted 1911 I have yet handled. There is no side to side or up and down play in the gun at all. I fired a total of 200 rnds today. I fired 150 rnds of WWB 230gr ball ammo, 20 rnds of 185gr Corbon +p ammo, and 30 rnds of Winchester 230gr Ranger SXT's. I had Zero malfunctions of any kind. This is the first Kimber I have owned that has been flawless out of the box (so far anyways ). Both of my previuos two kimbers required a break in period and had problems immediatley. Those guns though were perfect once brocken in. The +p Corbon ammo had quite a bit of recoil and alot of muzle falsh even in broad day light. I will not use this stuff again. It was very accurate, but I do not believe it has enough benifits to deal with the greater recoil. With every thig else this gun was a pleasure to shoot. With all the extra weight up front the gun was very quick back on target and had very little recoil. Accuracy was pretty good not quite as good as my other two 1911's but acceptable none the less. I may just be used to the better triggers of my other two guns, but I averaged about 2.5" groups at 10 yrds. Over all I liked the gun and if it remains trouble free, it will make a nice new home defense gun. Over all I give it a big thumbs up.
