S & W revolvers have the firing pin block. Ruger revolvers have the transfer bar.

What does Kimber have to make it safe to carry with the hammer down on a cartridge?

Thanks for posting that. I looked on the website but did not think to read the operators manual. Nothing was obvious when I was looking at the gun and I did not have long to fool with it. I really liked the way the gun feels. I ruled out the Ruger SP101 because I am unable to cock it with one hand. Have tried several of them. I think I like the Kimber better than the S & W model 60.

You will not regret it I love S&W but Kimber hit a grand slam. 2in, 3in and 4in across the chronograph

And you have the extra round.

I have been intrigued by the Kimber K6 revolvers since they came out. (I'm kind of a unicorn -- a guy who's owned several Kimber 1911s who's been happy with each one.) But I first bought some of the new Colt Cobras and the King Cobra; I'm ready to jump in on the K6 now.

My LGS has been kind enough to allow me to fondle several they got in (before the crazy rush) and it seems the fit and finish, as well as the DA trigger pull, are very, very nice. Once the DA/SA came out, I was ready to buy -- but they're currently in Bigfoot status -- occasionally sighted, but never captured.
