Kimber or Springfield ?

I'd say Kimber, even though I have a Kimber. :)

I've also shot a compact Springfield, and I liked it. But between the two, everyone that I know that have shot both would take the Kimber.

But both are good guns, so you cannot go wrong, imo.

Springfield 1911s have an internal lock and I can't stand internal locks.
If an internal lock is deemed necessary (it's not) why doesn't Springfield have one on the XD line?
Kimber doesn't have an internal lock.

Kimber is 80 series based with a firing pin block.

Springfield is 70 series based with no block.

Which is worst? At least a 70 series will always fire.

Kimber does have a firing pin safety, but it's not based on the Colt's Series 80 system.

Springfield does not have a firing pin safety, but it is not a Colt Series 70.

The Swartz firing pin safety in Kimber II models is easily removed so it's not a big deal. But as much as I like my Kimber TEII, I would suggest that you follow the advice given by 9mmepiphany and Zerodefect.

over 2000 rounds never a FTF, the Ultra Raptor is my daily carry weapon, I fire it at the range at least once a month. I hope that I will never have the need to use it, but if I do the weapon will be ready.

Compact 1911’s in my experience are always finicky. I have had the pleasure to shoot a kimber super carry. It was an amazing piece but only after the kinks were worked out and the piece was worked on by a smith. I haven’t seen a new production springer with the misaligned slides anymore, I only saw one like that on a mil-spec branded springer. Just pick one and I know in the long-run you will be happy with either or.

i couldnt find a springer for sale so i bought a Kimber Super carry ultra plus
