Kimbers have a plastic mainspring housing, again not on current production models I have seen.

My current UCII has a plastic MSH

The only failures I have had with my UCII, have been junk Kimber mag related. Wilson mags have solved my premature slide lock issue.

The only other issue has been a grip safety timing issue with the firing pin block. You can push the safety in far enough to get the hammer to fall, but not enough to clear the firing pin safety, resulting in a click no bang. Easy fixes to both issues are to eliminate the junk factory mag, and remove moving parts from under the rear sight

I trust my live with my Kimber, since I fixed the factory QC issues myself.

I had that problem and Kimber did right by fixing it, no problems since. If it is under warranty, just send it back for this type of problem.

Thanks for the link, I think I read it when I did a search in the past I don't doubt that Kimber would fix it, I just prefer it not have the feature.

Agreed. I wish they did not have the FP safety. It's a trade off. If you want a cost effective all steel 1911 off the shelf, with night sights and front strap checkering, the TLE is the only way to go.

my 2 ultras have been flawless w\JHP and who knows how many of my reloads.

heck,my brother has an external extractor Ultra that runs like a top.



my ultras are my EDC's.

some much for the myth of-"if it ain't a 5"bbl it's unreliable".
