A co-worker of mine just bought a Maverick pump with a 28 inch barrel. Well he wanted a short barrel and called me to ask how short he could cut it. First I told him to spend a few bucks and just buy the barrel he wants, but he's an unpatient fellow and decided to take a hacksaw to it. To be safe he cut it to 19 inches, but of course the cut wasn't square so he cut it again to square it up, but it was still off, you get the picture. So he ends up with a 17 1/2 inch barrel. So I went over and seperated the reciever from the barrel and brought the reciever home with me. I didn't want the barrel here since I have a couple of mossies that I'm sure it would fit on. So now I'm trying to convince him to get rid of the barrel, put a new barrel on the reciever and he'd be good to go. Now if it were my barrel, I'd just take it to the local law fellows and tell them what happened, but for some reason he doesn't want to do that. I'm in this thing about as far as I care to be, but I was wondering about just chunking the thing in a river which is what he wants to do. Me, I'm against it, just because you never know where these things turn up again. Maybe I'm just overly paranoid.
