Anyone used one? Good results? I am getting a drop in because I want to run cast through my Glock 34 and for some reason my stock barrel only accurately shoots 147 grain ammo. I tried some winchester white box 124 and 115 grain, at 20 yards my groups opened up dramatically compared to the 147. This is my IDPA gun so I would like to get as much accuracy as possible out of the gun.

So, anyone tried KKM? I looked at the Zev and Wilson Combat barrels and the KKM is cheaper.

Thanks

In my opinion they are excellent barrels. Employed KKM barrels in a Glock G17 and G19 no problems and accuracy was exceptionally excellent.

Can't speak to the Glock but I put a KKM barrel in a Beretta 92 that was not accurate at all. It took it from a non-shooter to this @ 25 yards. I would not hesitate to buy another one. YMMV

I haven't used a kkm in glock. But I currently have one in my Sig P226, converted from .40 to 9mm. Extremely accurate. I for one would not hesitate to put one in my glocks. FWIW, my preferred load is 124gr.

You may be getting greater accuracy with 147 gr bullet due to longer bullet base/bearing surface that engages the rifling for better flight characteristics. BTW, I have gotten good accuracy (~2" at 25 yards) with 124 gr RN bullets depending on the bullet/powder - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9924922#post9924922

As to barrels, Glock uses fast 1:10 (actually 9.84) barrel twist rate which coupled with smooth rounded rifling and very gradual start of rifling allow the lead bullet to jump deeper into the barrel before chamber pressure starts to build that allows more high pressure gas to leak around the bullet aggravating leading and fouling build up. With fast barrel twist rate and higher load data, bullet may end up skidding down the barrel instead of rotating with the rifling which could result less rotational stability in flight and produce decreased accuracy on target.

I use both KKM and Lone Wolf barrels in my Glocks and have gotten slightly better accuracy with slower twist rate of KKM when using the same load - www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=745656

Lone Wolf and most other aftermarket barrels use slower 1:16 barrel twist rate. KKM uses even slower 1:20 twist rate which IMO is more compatible with lead bullets (especially with lower powder charge loads).

I think this is the reason why Wilson Combat recently changed the barrel twist rate from 1:10 to 1:16.

Comparison range test of 147 gr bullet with W231/HP-38, Bullseye, Titegroup, Red Dot/Promo - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=748940
Glock - 1:9.84

Bar-Sto - 1:16
Briley - 1:16
KKM - 1:20
Lone Wolf - 1:16
Storm Lake - 1:16
Wilson Combat - 1:16 (used to be 1:10)

I had 2 KKM conversion barrels for Glocks (10mm to .40), both were excellent and both were more accurate with plated bullets than the stock Glock barrels. Never tried lead, but the KKM barrels were super smooth inside.

You should also consider Lone Wolf barrels.

I've got two LW barrels and both have excellent fit/finish. One went into a Glock 37 and the other into an M&P 40C.

cheers

KKM makes sig barrels? Where did you find yours? Their website doesnt list Sig Sauer

I have two of them (G17 and G19) in order to shoot lead in mine. They are more than worth the money. I'll be getting one when my G20 arrives as well.

In regards to twist rate with 1:20 twist will this be an issue shooting 147 grain bullets? or should I get another with 1:16 twist? possibly wilson combat or storm lake?

As I mentioned on post #5, I think slower twist rate is more compatible with lead bullets. Many bullseye match shooters prefer slower twist rate and aftermarket barrels come with 1:24 and even slower twist rates.

Even with heavier 147 gr lead bullets, 1:16 Lone Wolf and 1:20 KKM barrels did well with slight accuracy advantage with KKM barrel - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=748940

Thanks! Pulled the trigger this morning and ordered it from KKM, cant wait to shoot it this weekend.

If you reload, try Bayou Bullets coated lswc. I had trouble with copper jacketed bullets in 147g 9mm tumbling and key holing.

I loaded the coated lswc in 150gr! shot them in the stock glock barrel and it was awesome, punched nice crisp holes in the IDPA targets. No leading in the polywog barrels, the coating took care of that.

Other wise I like wilson combat aftermarket barrels.

be safe
