Kmart ND then signs go up...

I find it a little difficult to fault them when they've had a ND in their store. I'll blame the guy who couldn't keep his gun in his pocket.

I would rather see Kmart press charges than prohibit weapons possession in the store.

Gunowners really shouldn't be spending their money at K-Mart in the first place, if that company's recent track record means anything to you.

Um..... I've accidentally run a stop sign before. I didn't turn in my drivers license. So...why is this guy giving up his right to carry?
Of course....pretty weird to FORGET you had your gun.

agree with you on this one.

one question though, is the KMart attached to the mall or is the only door to the KMart in the mall?

I haven't been in a Kmart in many many years..............something to do with the rosie thing

Guess I won't be shopping there any more

Kmart and Sears are the same. Where are you going to buy tools from.
Maybe someone will not let thier gun go off in Sears.

The KMart is attached to the mall at one end, you can enter Kmart walk through and go into the mall. I've seen the security guards at the mall... My 5 year old daughter could probably give them a run for their money.. :D

Brian D, I'm curious as to what you mean by this, as I haven't seen anything decidedly anti-gun from Kmart since the Michael Moore incident, and that was under a completely different corporate entity, people, and stockholders.

To the rest of the story, the guy probably shouldn't have been carrying anyway. A .32 Derringer, likely being pocket carried, rather than in a holster of some form. Without a holster, you're running the risk of an ND. The fact that he's decided he's better off not carrying shows he might not be willing to fire if necessary anyway.

If he thinks he shouldn't carry, he's most likley right.
I for one thank him for his insite, and think, he should probably frame his ccw permit and hang it on the wall.

he needs to stop carrying what goods that junk gun going to do him anyway and he is stuipid foget he had it so if he needs it he want no he had it anyway.

Interesting.
Ohio concealed carry law requires us to carry in a holster. If Mr. Manukin had been carrying his derringer in a proper holster as he was required to, this probably would not have happened at all.
While I normally carry a P3AT or S&W 6946, I sometimes carry a .32 Davis D-32 derringer in certain situations because; it is tiny and easy to conceal. And giggle at them if you will, but I can rapidly thumb off two hollow points at 3-5 yards with reasonable defense accuracy.
The article doesn't mention the brand of gun. Both the old Davis .32 and the current Cobra reissue of it have a hammer-block safety to prevent ND. So if it was either a Davis or a Cobra, Mr. Manukin must not have used this safety. The Davis and Cobra may be inexpensive, but that block is TOTAL when you have the safety engaged. Mr. Manukin, it is the button which reads "PUSH FOR SAFE" around it! Sounds like another case like the LEO in the auto parts store, some folks should not carry guns.

He was probably intimidated by the blue light special :p
