I hate those things for all merchandise. they are a pain in the butt and if your not careful, they will cut you pretty bad. but generally, the nicer, better quality and higher priced knives are behind the counter in a box. the five dollar knife that I know is from a decent company that I will use just for opening tougher packaging during Christmas time ... now that knife I don't care to "feel" it because its not even worth the time to try and feel it. If you know it's a decent cheap knife what's the point. Now just before i bought my SOG SEAL pup knife I went into Cabela's yesterday and looked at it and handled it one last time. I was satisfied so I bought it online for a cheaper price. with shipping and handling it was less expensive then at Cabela's.
But no knife manufacturer is going to put a fifty dollar knife in some stupid packaging like that. those go behind the counter, and those are the ones that are worth looking at.
