Hi there all, new to the High Road. I have been a knife collector for many years, I feel more comfortable carrying a good fixed blade than just about anything else.

My question is this: what are some of your guy's favorite knives? Why?

Boker Police Model Top-Lock

I like the way it feels in my hand, the ease of opening, and frankly - it's just "pretty".

Of course, I'm not a fan of guns or knives that aren't black.

Welcome, you might get a getter response in the Non Firing Weapons sub forum. there are some real knife guys that hang out there. hpefully a mod will move this
That said, Becker BK 11 by Ka-Bar.

The Vic Farmer.

Custom Shop Buck 110s.

The big Benchmade RUKUS.

The Spyderco Endura.

The Rat Cutlery RC-4.

Any carbon steel puukko with a blade between 3.75 and 5 inches long.

Oh, and I like leukus too. The Finns (and Lapps) really knew what they were doing when those two designs hit the scene.

I have quite a few knives stored away, these are a few that see a lot of carry time.

First up are my BK11 (I stripped the coating off) and my Victorinox Hiker model. The SAK is really the only knife that I always have with me, very handy.

Bk11 is 1095 CroVan,3.25" blade OAL is 6.75"

Next are a couple of custom users I really like,

A JK Knives mini-Nessmuck necker, 1 1/2" blade OAL 4 1/4", 1/8" thick O1, walnut scales.

My JK Knives Hiker. 3 7/8" blade OAL 8 1/8", 1/8" thick O1, black micarta scales with red liners.

And this one is on its way. Should be here tomorrow.:)

JK Knives EDC model. 6" oal, of 1/8" x 1" tall O1. From front of handle to tip of blade is 2 3/4", with a 2 3/8" cutting edge.

Mine is the bottom knife with tan micarta scales with black liners.

(The top spalted maple scaled knife is another customers, the pic is from John)

folders;

sak's,
Case peanut,
Case sodbuster,
Buck stockman,
Mercator K55,
Douk-Douk,
Gerber LST,
Spyderco ladybug.

Sheath;

Frost's mora number 1.

Other heavy duty;

Ontario 12 inch machete,
Tramontina 12 inch machete,
Collins 12 inch machete,
Martindale Golok.

The above selection does everything I ever need to do with a knife. I like them either small enough to drop in a pocket and forget about it, or big enough for serious work. If I need something a pocket knife won't handle, then I pull out the stops and use a machete, not fool around with a 5 to 7 inch sheath knife. I don't like middle size knives that are too small for real work, but too big to carry easy. Have no place in my life for standard sheath knives, too limited.

I prefer Benchmade blue class folders for EDC
551 griptilian
940 osborne
960 osborne
890 torrent
760 LFTi
610 Rukus
710 McHenry&Williams
740 Dejavoo
I also REALLY like Bali-songs, again from Benchmade
42
32morpho
Every now and then I carry a fixed blade, usually my ringed Razel.

In my right front pocket rests a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian in any one of several flavors: S30V from Doug Ritter, D2 from Cabelas, or plain 154 from some guy on eBay.

My fixed blade favorites these days are Busses. I have several different models, but a Busse is what I make sure I have when I'm going out on the tundra these days.

Favorites?

Well, let's begin with daily carry . . .

On my belt:

Right front pocket:
(Actually, the Peanut has been replaced by a Case Pocket Hunter, but it's the same size.)

Right side (thigh) pocket:
(The glove is used as a pouch to keep the stuff from knocking together and rattling.)
(Actually, the Kershaw Double Cross has been replaced by the Case Medium Stockman below.)
(The thing that looks like a SAK is a Wenger SAK mechanism with Bubinga wood scales added by EKA, and sold by them under the "Executive" name.

(The Case XX Medium Stockman, green bone, John Deer)

Things I don't normally carry, but still use and prefer:

In the kitchen, I sometimes use the Normark (Rapala) folding fillet knive (by EKA).
I keep a Buck Short Revolution in the truck center console. Use it for all kinds of general purpose stuff. Also in the truck is a Case XX Sodbuster Jr. that sees regular use.
Sometimes, instead of the Normark folder, I'll carry a Case XX Large Sodbuster.
I have a Kershaw Leek that I carry when the "gentleman" image is more appropriate.
I have a fistful of Mora knives of various sizes, handles, and what have you. Really good utility tool.
I also really like the Buck 110, but it's a bit bulky for routine carry.
Wife got me a Kershaw Needs Work for Father's Day, and I'm liking that a lot.

Oh, and welcome to THR.

I have several favorites like the sheath carried Case Trapper, #10 Opinel carried in a flashlight holder,Case Slimline Trapper, Case Sodbuster and MANY more.

The best all around camp/hunting/survival knife is a RC-4. Well made, 4 inch drop point-need I say more?
Best AO daily pocket-Benchmade Mini-barrage.
Best skinner-Helle Fjellman.
