Hi Folks,

I was at my local Safe store on Friday and came across the SB06E made by Sun Safe (a Korean company). The price and size were right for my needs but I'd never heard of them. The Safe was built like a tank, 2k pounds with 7 gauge steel.

This is all of the info the company seems to have on them:
http://www.eaglesafes.com/en/products/product.html?search_cate=67

I believe the one I saw had the concrete and steel mesh option.

The safe is bare bones on the inside, just steel shelves. I could get it for $2,300.

Anyone know anything about it?

Thanks!

DG

Looks interesting. The SB06E shows 1056 Lbs. I didn't see where it showed the steel thickness anywhere. Must have missed it.

Yeah, I'm going off of what the sales rep told me. The website is lacking data. I'm pretty sure the weight I was quoted was inclusive of the concrete steel mesh optikn

Did you make sure to see what it looks like when the door is shut? One of the most important things about a safe is going to be the gap between door and the body. If they cannot run away with it, then the next step is going to by a pry attack. My next question is what gauge of steel the body is made out of? The next attack for a safe is going to be cutting, and they are going to go after the body of the safe. If they can cut the body they may be able manipulate the bolts with a punch. The another thing that you want to pay attention to is the welding. Make sure it is not spot welded. Other than that bolt work is very important. You want a nice continuous weld, because spot welds can be broken.

The most telling fact will be the warranty that the company offers. Anything less than life time warranty is not worth it. You can find a bunch of companies right here in the USA that give you a life time warranty, and you can even talk to the owner. The price of the safe sounds right for a higher end safe, but I would go with something that has more of a reputation. Honestly safe companies are all about reputation. If it was manufactured in China, that would be more telling of potential issues, but I really don't know much about Korean safes.

You need to know how this thing stands up to torture, or else all of the stats in the world don't mean anything. How is that dial secured to the door? Can they knock that off and manipulate the bolt assembly? I would google the company to see if anyone has done destructive testing. Even if it is the company itself, as long as they are really going at it with the safe, you can't fake effort. The other thing I would caution you against is the bait and switch. That happens even with American companies. What they say is 7 gauge could turn out to be more akin to 12 gauge. It comes down to what you are comfortable, but I would look for people that have had these safes. When in doubt buy American, and make sure that the company stands behind their product.

While you are waiting to talk to someone that has more direct experience with this company I would try and find out this type of information.

Hope that it is a great safe!
