Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about getting a Knoxx SpecOps stock for my Mossberg 500 but I'm not sure if I should get a gen 1 or a gen 2. I've heard of problems with both generations so I don't know which one to get. Any help would be appreciated.

My Gen 1 stuck in the rearward position and still kicked more due to plastic-on-plastic friction. I also has a wobbly folding part but that was apparently not a Gen 1 issue but a problem with that particular unit. They replaced it with a Gen 2 (after something like 5 months of waiting!) and I love it. The adapter that fits the gun is aluminum and does not bind at all against the plastic. It absorbs even more recoil than the Gen 1 due to the decreased friction.

The Gen II for the Mossberg was recalled for the pistol grip breaking off. Then it comes back and has a "warning" about breaking which you can read on www.blackhawk.com for the Pistol Grip breaking off.

There were no issues with the Gen I and it was a said day when Black Hawk bought Knoxx.

My reply may have been erroneous. I have the SpecOps Folder (for the 870). It appears that despite the changes made to the design, there is no "Gen1" or "Gen2" for the folder and those names only apply to the telescoping not folding version.
