My plinking session report.
I had been looking that these things in the catalogs for years, seemed like a good idea, buddy needed some stuff from Midway last month so I piggybacked my stuff on his order and got a pair of hooded fine wire sights for AR15.
The first one went on the 20 inch 7.62x39 DPMS upper, only drawback was the female thread in the front sight tower was a bit oversize so the sight is not held well.:banghead:
Shooting at the same distance as before the group size reduce by 1/3 and eyestrain was reduced too. With out glasses I could still shoot it as well as before with them because the front works like a ghost ring. Sadly in less than ideal light the fine wires disappeared from my sight picture. This has been an even better return on investment for the improvement in practical accuracy than the RRA 2stage trigger, and I love that thing.
So, what to do with the 2nd one? Swap it onto the 16" carbine of course! This time I was smart enough to measure the front sight height with a vernier caliper so that re-sighting would be quicker. :scrutiny: Wasn't till I had it mounted that I noticed the sight was missing the vertical wire, humm, that won't work, sounds like Midway is gonna make good on it, sposed to send one in the duplex style this time, be nice if they made one with medium wires, wishfull thinking.

BTW: the 7.62 now has the holosite on it now, removed the front sight post so the sight pic worked for me, with a riser block I had cheekweld issues, perfect without and removing the sight is far cheaper than a low rise block. I was overjoyed that I didn't need reading glasses to use this sight, in fact the red light bounced around in the eyeglass lens and blurred the center dot. Have been using reading glasses to see iron sights with my 50 year old eyes, one of these days I will get a lens insert for the rear sight.

Mojo makes front and rear aperture sights for Mosins, Mausers, K31s and such. I've tried them and they work well for a round bullseye target. You just line up all the circles within each other.

I've oftem wondered in the KNS sights were a gimmick or if the "line up the circles" effect worked for them too.

Well if your asking me I don't even think my buddy has sent the defective one back yet.
