Got a call from RGuns today that the Kreb's KTR-03S 7.62x39 that I backordered in October shipped out today. This is surprising because I called Brian Krebs about 3 weeks ago and he said that their CAD or Milling operator left the job and they were expecting to have the rifles done at the end of December at the earliest. I should have mine on Friday or Saturday hopefully.

I always said that I could never spend $999 on an AK, but I came around once I priced out getting the parts to make my own KTR-03 from one of my Saigas or VEPRs. The parts and rails and stuff w/ self labor would be close to a KTR rifle and it wouldn't have the AR peep sights, top cover rail or a left-side thumb safety. I'll surely give a report w/ pics once I get it.

It was really hard to decide between a KTR-03S and a Yugo M92 Krink. The Yugo Krink would have required an SBR (+$200) as it makes no sense to have one with a barrel extension long-term. If I had been able to find a Bulgarian 7.62x39 Krink sidefolder for around $1000, I would have gotten that instead. I plan to take off the fixed stock, cut the tang and add either a folding ACE skeleton stock or a folding/adjustable length ACE SOCOM stock. It will be my one non-tradtional AK in the collection and likely my next 3 gun rifle to train with. I've got either an EOTECH or an Aimpoint to use with it, I'll likely use whichever feels better.
