KY Imports dealings?

I am looking at a police trade-in. What have you to say about KY Imports?

I bought a S&W M28-2 from them last fall.
It had some blue wear but a clean, shiny barrel.
It took about a week to arrive at my dealer.
Shoots very accurately and has a great single action trigger.

I bought a S&W M38 from them a few years ago, also a nice revolver.

I'm not sure where in KY you're located but KY IMPORTS has a new showroom open . I've bought a few guns both new and used there and have always been satisfied with price/quality .

Several were in better condition than advertised.

As a454me said, they have a new showroom open. I went by there the other day. - Seems OK. I'd MUCH rather LOOK at a gun than buy one sight unseen.

You might want to call first though.. not sure about their hours. - Especially Saturday.

I've purchased several toys from them prior to the recent opening of their showroom. A couple of weeks ago I got a NIB Sig P239 9mm for $469, which is a pretty nice price. The only complaints I have heard, and there have been a few, is that if you order a gun they say is 95%, you might get one thats 50%; others have said that they often dont have in stock what they advertise. I know this one is true, when they didn't have a P239 .40 like they advertised. But most reports are positive. The alleged probs are eliminated if you can call them to check their stock, or visit them in person.
I'll buy whereever I can find the lowest price, and they've won that contest several times.

I bought a couple of glock mags from them that they said were in very good cond,But on a scale of 1 to 10 i'd give the mags 5.Wouldn't buy from them again unless it was new, or i could see the goods 1st...

I wondered. I know of a few Argentine Sistema 1927s they sold that weren't as advertised. I figured I should ask before letting loose with the credit card.

I got a S&W 4052 trade in from them recently. I told them I didn`t care about light scratches etc. but that it MUST have a tight action and good bore as well as bright night sights. The one I got was exactly what I asked for. The few light scraches cleaned up easily with fine scotchbrite and the sights are as bright as new ones. It also came with a case and an extra mag,which was nice. I`ll buy from them again. Marcus

I ordered a 681 from them about 5 or 6 years ago. Supposed to be hand picked, but what I got was a pretty sad weapon. I would hesitate doing business with them again, although in their defense, I did NOT attempt to return it. They may have been good about a return, I just don't know, but the Smith was definitely a dawg!

Made a single sidearm purchase from them a few years ago. Used piece, and the condition was exactly what I expected, based on their description.

Shipping was quick.

I'd purchase from them again, if they had exactly what I was looking for.

A couple of years back, I attempted to purchase a couple of pre ban Walther P99 mags from them.

When I asked questions, they hesitated on answering or just had no answers at all. When it got to the point that I didn't believe them, the AH guy on the phone told me he would cancel the order and for me not to order from them again.

I figured what they had FS wasn't what they were shipping and I was suppose to buy it anyway.

I wouldn't waste my time with them on anything they had FS.

I've read too many bad reports about the actual quality of what they sell as far as used.

OTOH, I've discovered there are a lot of cops that NEVER clean their guns.

I have bought a couple of items from KY Imports.

The experience is nothing to write home about, but I was not cheated.

I bought a police trade in 870 Remington shotgun that was described as good-vg. It wasn't anything near that... the stock was junk, the foregrip was a plastic replacement and the finish was about 20%. All that said, I kept the gun because it was going to Scattergun Tehcnologies for a rebuild to new condition anyway. It turned out fine.

I would have been pretty unhappy if I had been buying the gun to use as is... Can't comment on their return policy... it could be ok.
