M69 with 4x Leupold for load testing (I'll take the scope off for everyday use, but, with the 4x Leup and Hogue 500s, it only weighs 48 oz and would make a great hunting package.

This is a 386 (.357 Mag), I also have a 396 (.44 spcl). The 386 is shown with a Freedom Arms M97, 3 1/2" round butt, .45 Colt (also a neat little package at 33 oz.)

The short, medium, and long of it... at least if you think 4 inches is long for a barrel.

And yes, the 3 incher is a U.S. Custom Services CS-1.

Some nice revolvers here. Here's my first and only(for now...) revolver, a 686 no dash with some Ahrends cocobolo grips. Saw someone post the same grips up, good taste. One day I'll get around to polishing the damn thing.

Hey wander where did you get them maple grips ?

They're Ahrend's Smooth Combats. I know opinions and preferences vary, but for me these smooth, non-finger grooved wood stocks are the best option for comfort and shootability. Most finger grooves are too widely spaced and large for me, and I don't care for how a rubber grip sticks into place when your grip isn't quite where you want it.

thanks wander Now I know there are more l frames on THR than this  come on guys don't be shy come on out

My only L-frame (so far): A 586 (no dash). Came with the original box (obviously, not in picture).

I just have a boring 686-6 with trigger lock, trigger job, and cylinder ream for everyday carry, and optimized for lead reload practice ammo. Even more boring is my Pachmayr Gripper.

Good lord that sounds boooooring. I'd bet it's one of those guns that's so boring that it puts lead exactly where you want it to. Bet it could keep you entertained on the range, or alive on the street all very boringly, obviously.

I have this 681 that came with these grips.

They don't fit for some reason. Seem to hang over the back.

So I bought some other grips and put them on.

Those grips seem to fit better on this revolver.

Just the boring ole story of woe, because I had to by new grips for a gun I just purchased.

I can't compete with the photography skills of others, but here is my (one & only) 686-3, purchased from a friend a couple of years ago, not sure if it was every fired before I got it, just a sweet gun, I think everyone should own a "686"

686 w/ Ahrends

Just got these Ahrends grips in cocobolo. They are some of the last since cocobolo has been placed on the endangered species list. Really feel better than the Pachmyer plastics...

Common recent production 686-6 but with polished hammer and trigger. What doesn't show is the trigger job and cylinder ream for lead that makes this a first rate shooter. The grips I just installed and are from Smith & Wesson...their K/L frame, round to square butt conversion grips, found on eBay.
