So my wonderful wife got me a Century L1A1 or R1A1 whatever they call theirs. Got to take it out this past week and had some problems with it. First every so often (4-5 times a mag) I will get a light primer strike, rechamber the round again and it'll go off. This happened with both portugese surplus and american eagle ammo. Next some of the extracted casings had a nice little chunk taken out of them. I would post pictures of it but I forgot to keep some of the casings :( . And third and last it also seems to like to jam on feeding some of the rounds, after going over this with P95Carry it seems like they're hitting on part of the feed ramp. Any help with this would be appreciated!

Darn it Dave - yet another pic I should have taken. If you really want a pic of a case with a chunk missing just say - give me an excuse to drop down to the range!! :p

I'm gonna swap red dots between Storm and 22/45 ... so, well - probably gotta sight em in again!

I posted way, way back on my L1A1 problem ... if by any chance I can find the thread I'll let you know - it had some pics of my feedramp area etc.

OK Dave - this might help (can't find link to my original write up - which was anyways on another board IIRC) .... here are three pics I took - this was back in Nov 2002, when I had much same prob .... tho my cases were not quite so ''abused''! And - if rounds fed, they went bang first time.

First pic ........ the breech - notice the feedramp sorta double angle, like yours - and note too the ''copper scars'' where bullet tips were impacting ... see the similarity. So folks, this is very similar to Daves prob tho his not quite so ''coppery'' perhaps. Interesting to note on mine - the incredibly crude chamber mouth chamfer!

Then cases ... see the case heads here and the damage ... Dave's were worse with chunks missing but again, similar.

Side view of cases - -note on these, the spiral scuff scratches. Didn't see those on Dave's I don't think

So - as I mentioned I think - and no up-to-date pic to show it I am afraid, but - I smoothed the transition on feedramp such that bullet tips would get a smoother ride .. seems to have helped a lot, tho tricky access to do it ... Mr Dremel did the job with my help!.

"...a Century..." That says it all. Take the breech block apart and clean it. Clean the chamber too. Mind you, it could also be the wrong extractor. Clean the gas system and set it on 5. Make sure the gas plug is installed the right way too.
