Has anyone chronographed any of the Greek HXP .30-06 ammo the CMP is selling to compare it to Lake City M2 Ball? Any ballistic info?

The HXP I chronoed went 2910 fps. ES was about 40 fps. LC went 2710 fps. I'd have to dig through my notebooks to get more data (lot, SD, etc).

I haven't fired any Lake City M2 Ball in my Garand in a while, but the Greek HXP is quite accurate. I've been very happy with it on the whole though it is quite dirty but nothing running a few more patches through the barrel/gas system won't fix.

I haven't chronographed the Greek but I believe it shoots better than Lake City, at least in my M-1's.
I know the Greek ammo shoots more accurately than late 60's LC, in my 2 M1 rifles, although I did not chronograph. By "more accurately", I mean the HXP ammo groups are half the size of the LC. YMMV with different lots of either.

No problems with the Greek ammo here either and it's plenty accurate for our club shoots.

Thanks, Grizz22. Our group at southtexasshooting.org began shooting the Greek ammo as our stocks of Lake City dwindled and CMP was only shipping us Pyrkal. I could tell Pyrkal was hotter than Lake City in my Garand and the 1903 shooters were adament there was more felt recoil. I had planned to reload the 1,000 or so cases of LC brass I'd saved to +/- 2900 fps and was wondering how it would compare to the Greek ammo. I appreciate the post.

My Garand load uses a 147 gr bullet to about 2800 fps using A4064 and shoots a little better than HXP. Slower or faster and the accuracy drops off. You may not need to go to 2900 fps. As always watch your pressure when loading for a Garand.

I think the greek stuff shoots fine. Did pick up some surplus 30-06 this weekend.
Found a person who had 3 cans of yugo 1957 non corrosive boxer primed M2 ball. Its been a few years since I have seen any of it. each can is a WWII 50 cal USGI side opening ammo can. it has 22 boxes of 22 rounds for a total of 484 rounds per can. He wanted $100 a can so I bought all 3 of them.
A person needs to be lucky once in awhile but still like to buy a few cans of the cmp greek stuff once in awhile to put away as some day when its all sold out at the cmp I will be wishing I had bought more.
