We see all this talk of making new gun laws and background checks and everything else but the vast majority of these shooters and murderers in these cities in the US are statistically from 15 to 20 years old and cannot even legally purchase a handgun (which are used in most shootings, not so-called Assault Rifles) so none of these laws affect them. They are obviously obtaining them illegally on the street.

I don't see this being brought up enough.

I assume because a large majority of these shooters are POC it would be racist to point that out but it is true.

If you want to get to the root of this problem and solve the issue you need to address these 2 facts.

This is just one story with pics and video of the crime, you could choose dozens more every week that are on video.

Unfortunately, nothing of consequence will happen to Avon Darden or most of the other murderers committing these crimes. Witness the exact same thing happening to Californian Kate Sreinle who was murdered by Jose Garcia Zarate in 2015. It doesn't 'fit the narrative' as they say. Zarate was a seven-time felon, and he was acquitted.

I've been noticing the shootings committed by minors in the news lately also. The "mass" shooting in Austin recently was a minor. Of course the root of the problem is how these children have been raised, or not raised, by the likes of tic toc, instacrap, 2faced book, etc.

Thank you, @Aim1 . I will try to track down his source now. :)

<Edit> And unfortunately, I can't. It may well be the case in Chicago and/or other cities, but on state and federal levels, it doesn't appear to be true. I have never tried searching for gun crime perpetrators by age, and it appears that few statistics are presented that way. Looking at https://www.statista.com/statistics/251884/murder-offenders-in-the-us-by-age/, as well as https://www.sagepub.com/sites/default/files/upm-binaries/60294_Chapter_23.pdf, violent crime appears to sharply rise from the age of about 15 to a peak at about 21, then gradually decline. It does appear that the average age of violent criminals decreasing, but I don't think there is any good data available for 2020 or 2021.

90 % of weapons used in gun crimes obtained illegally (2019 report):

“If you willfully sell a gun to someone who is prohibited from possessing it. If you willfully fail to run a background check. If you willfully falsify a record. If you willfully fail to cooperate with the tracing requests or inspections, my message to you is this: We’ll find you, and we will seek your license to sell guns,” Biden said.
Well, THAT aught to fix it... o_O

The DoJ every five to seven years runs a of state and federal prison inmates who carried or used a gun in the crime for which they are currently serving time. The War on Guns over the decades has driven the criminal element from about 80% gray or black market to over 90% to day.

I bet drug dealers, street dealers, fences, burglars, black marketeers, and other criminal sources cited by felons as the sources of their guns are quaking in their boots, laughing at "“If you willfully sell a gun to someone who is prohibited from possessing it. If you willfully fail to run a background check. If you willfully falsify a record. If you willfully fail to cooperate with the tracing requests or inspections, my message to you is this: We’ll find you, and we will seek your license to sell guns,” Biden said.
"License to sell guns? We don't need no stinkin' licenses."
If a politician declared a War on Drugs and threatened to seek the licenses of drug dealers if they failed to get prescriptions from their customers, willfully falsified records, or failed to cooperate with tracing requests or inspections, most sane people would see him as out of it. Or on something himself.

I wonder how things would have been handled had the racial makeup been reversed?

I wonder how things would have been handled had the racial makeup been reversed?

I have to admit, the blurb does reek of a certain slant...

It’s almost picture - perfect, poster quality!

...Heroic veteran warrior patriot gets shot by inner city crim!

What more can one ask for?

It's almost like gun control is not about guns...
It's not.
It's about control, as we all know. But it is even more than that. It's also about demonstrating how easily the majority of the population can be manipulated and influenced by propaganda. Jpseph Goebbles' and Woodrow Wilson's principles taken to heart and employed relentlessly.
JMHO, of course....

I have been watching the news regarding the weekly slaughter in Chicago. I think it is of interest that a lot of the younger kids being killed and wounded were on the street after midnight. What? I had a black employee that was raised by his Grandmother in government housing and he told me that he and his sisters had no supervision or other structure. His mother was a drug addict and all of his siblings had different fathers. There is the root of the problem, not with the hardware.

A lot of shootings in the big cities are turf, and drug related. Gang members shooting other gang members. Another part of the equation is lack of parenting, and another I won't mention. These kids are street smart. I would bet this guy knew well what he was facing before turning himself in.
As mention prior and is known well by many ,gun control is about control. Not about crime.
Senate Judiciary Committee composition

This link is posted in Activism and I believe it refers to probably the most comprehensive study done on the second amendment. It was commissioned by the committee in 1986 if I recall correctly. If you have not read it you need to. (all of it-it's not that long) It covers gun control, plus a good deal more.

The vast majority of gun homicides and attempted homicides are carried out by a demographic that accounts for approximately 4.5% of the population and is perpetrated to a large extent against the same 4.5% of the population. Gun homicides and attempted homicides would diminish very significantly with the reinstitution of "stop and frisk". But that is deemed racist, so let the carnage continue.

Here's a brief proposal - that isn't likely to fly in the big cities where life is cheap and all too many young men are willing to act out if they feel the need. Here in Florida we enacted a law some years ago, popularly called 10, 20, life... Get caught with a firearm illegally - 10 years.... use a firearm in the commission of a crime 20 years, shoot or kill someone - life in prison.... Worked pretty well from what I remember... I'd add to it one simple change - no bail for anyone arrested for a crime involving a firearm, period. They'd have to stay locked down until their case was resolved - without exception... Very quickly carrying, displaying, or using a firearm in violation of the many laws governing them would become unpopular and those caught would be off the streets the moment they were apprehended...

None of this would change situations where ultra left prosecutors decline to prosecute - but it would sure make a dent in places like Chicago, New York, etc.
