So it has been a while since I wrote on here, but in my time gone, I joined the military. Found out I will be stationed in Nevada after I complete tech school and I thought I would run by you guys and ask in general, how are the laws down there? I turn 21 in August and I plan on getting my permit to carry, but would it be possible for me to get a permit sooner, being military? Also, are there any "weird" gun laws that could potentially cause issues that I should know about? And What ranges in the area are good (I will be in Vegas). Thank you everyone.

NV is fine as far as ease of buying guns. Harry Reid got some money and built a huge complex in the Vegas area. There are some great buffets in Vegas... ;)

Nevada is a shall issue CCW state and is an open carry state.

Nevada laws allows for a loaded handgun to be in a vehicle without having a valid carry permit, as long as it is not "concealed upon your person" (which also includes being in a portable container, such as a purse/bag/case/pack).
So, it's legal to have a loaded handgun in your vehicle's glove/utility compartment, under your seat, or on the seat next to you.
Nevada laws does not allow for a loaded long gun (rifle/shotgun) in a vehicle.

Minimum age to obtain a CCW permit is 21. (no exemptions)
Minimum age to open carry is 18.

It is illegal to carry in Government owned/operated buildings, school/college property, and child care facilities.
Posted "no guns" signs only have legal weight when posted at any of the above mentioned buildings.
So, it is legal to carry within privately owned buildings (such as restaurants, stores, casinos, hotels).
But, if you are discovered carrying, they can ask you to leave the property. Refusal to leave can result in a trespassing arrest.

Weird gun laws... It is legal to possess/carry a firearm as long as your BAC is below .10 (I don't recommend doing this).

The Clark County Shooting Park is an excellent outdoor range.

Get involved with the pro-gun groups.
Bloomberg is currently dumping millions of dollars into Nevada, in order to pass "universal background check" and "assault weapons" legislation.

I was under the impression each public entrances had to be posted, not ANY.

NRS 202.3673
(b) A public building that has a metal detector at each public entrance or a sign posted
at each public entrance indicating that no firearms are allowed in the building
, unless the
permittee is not prohibited from carrying a concealed firearm while he is on the premises
of the public building pursuant to subsection 4.
