Laser engraving blades

Hi,

During the NRA Annual Meetings this weekend Benchmade is offering free laser engraving on any Benchmade knife. While I was there yesterday a guy was having his family name engraved on a knife he brought. They misspelled it. They gave him a free replacement on the spot, new and properly engraved.

Do you guys have any engraved knives? If so, what did you put on them. I was thinking my initials or something like Molon Labe or Don't tread on me.

I wish all companies would offer this. It really personalizes the blade. I had one given to me during the holidays from my Mother. I wanted to remember it always.

I have a few. Not laser engraved, but electro-chemically etched, with my logo (happens to be my initials, and the initials of my collaborative partnership).







The neat thing about this sort of etching is it has some depth to it so it can show up under a finish like Gun Kote:


And with a little tape and some creativity you can make a single use stencil for a custom job like putting my daughter's initial on the knife I made for her:



Unfortunately I've never gotten around to having my original stencil idea made up...sort of a universal warning pictogram:

I have seen the offer to engrave new BM knives but have not done it, don't know exactly why. Don't have anything good to put on there I guess!
