I went with a SIG STL-900L to go with my SIG P229R for home defense. I like the compact size of the unit and it's worked fine for a number of years now. Battery life is good and overall I would say I have been very pleased with it's performance.

I got this cheapie from Amazon.com. it is a Synderay brand. I am not necessarily recommending it, but it is fairly bright and compact. It is very quick and easy to attach or detach from the gun. It has a simple push button switch.

I like to carry the light in my pocket just by itself for the flashlights' sake....then I have the option of attachment to the gun if necessary.

When the gun is on the nightstand, the light is attached.

Personally, a weapon mounted light is a must for things that bump in the night. Around here that' s usually a 'coon or coyote. 20170923_221930.jpg

I use a SureFire X400 light/laser on my dedicated HD pistol (as it sits in a V-Line "Top Drawer"):

The laser like any other tool requires practice/training, but it really can be an asset, especially if you leave your glasses on the nightstand or are in a position where you can come to full extension and can't see your sights.

I'm a big fan of the green lasers for HD use, and I enjoy plinking and target shooting with them.

I have a TLR on my bedside gun. I have also used the M6, the M3, the surefire x200 and x300, and some of the earlier surefire lights in the military. They are all good. I have the light/laser combo on my gun because it was free. If I had to pay for it, I would have just gotten a M3 which is just the light. I can see my sights just fine if I am illuminating the target.
