What are your opinions on lasers?
For some years I've used, experimented and practiced with (good) lasers and laser/lights on handguns, rifles and shotguns.
I have home ranges where I try to shoot 2-4 evenings a week in low light/dark.
I don't know how many Crimson Trace and Streamlight TLR-2 lasers I have on defense and practice guns, a lot.
Bottom line, in my experience, in their element, low light and darkness no other sighting system comes even close to the speed and accuracy of the laser equipped gun in the hands of a shooter that knows how to properly use the laser, laser/light.
An example comes to mind.
A year or two ago a lady I was teaching to shoot had tried the pistol mounted Crimson Trace laser a couple times.
One day the lady and I shot on one of those full size live fire simulators, like a big video game. The local Police use the simulator for practice.
One simulation put the lady against 7 bad guys. The bad guys came at her one at a time from different directions and with different weapons, (very challenging and fun).
I suggested the lady to use my Crimson Trace laser equipped Ruger SR9C and gave her the gun with a spare magazine.
I wish I had a video recording of the shootout. I was really proud of my student. Fast action with very fast, accurate shooting.
In the end, using the laser she killed all the bad guys without being injured herself.
The simulator operator said no one had done that before.
Put it this way, if under these conditions..............
.............can you do such as this with your present low light/dark sighting system? If you can, then you do not need a laser, laser/light.
Recently tore both my shoulders. After the operations about all I can shoot for now, without too much pain, is this Ruger 22, late in the evening.
25 yards. Fast firing from the hip with a Streamlight TLR-2 equipped S&W M&P 15-22. In total darkness.
Just plinking.
Crimson Trace equipped Kimber Ultra. Standing. Almost dark.
From the hip. Weak hand shooting.
I'm 75, so of course I wear eye glasses. This is without my glasses.
