I have a very nice shooting Remington mod 700 in .308 Win. with a 6x18 power Leupold scope and I would like to walk it out to about 800 yards. Trouble is, I need to get a good range finder. I would like to know if you guys have any real world experience with range finders out to at least 800 yards. I am not interested in what he manufacurer says.( I can find that for myself) I want to know what you guys, (the shooters) have to say.
Let's say you wanted to make a cold bore shot at 680 yards. What range finder would you most want in your nap sack??

I've been looking at Leica, Leupold, Bushnell, ect...

I have a Bushnell Elite and it is very dependable out to 1000 yards, from 1000-1500 it depends on what you are trying to range, but out to 1000 it will pick up dern near anything.

I have tested a Swarovski (don't remember the exact model) and it was awesome out to a mile. Also used a Lieca and it was awesome as well. A guy I know brought me 5 different ones and said 'test these' so I got to work with several.

I have the Bushnell Elite which has been working very well for me. Past about 1000 yards picking up a small target gets harder but inside that range it does great.

Leupold Mk IV model. Expensive as a new handgun, but worth it IMO. :)

I went shopping for rangefinders in December, and figured that even if it was a little painful, it's less painful than buying a less powerful model and then realizing you need something better. Your mileage may vary, but I LOVE this little piece of equipment. My brother has already tried to "borrow/liberate" it from my home. ;)

Some of the nicer pieces to it.

~1200 yard range
Angle determination
True Ballistic range (algorithm calculates based on range and angle of depression/rise)
Compass
Arrow mode
Variable units of measure

Probably more that I can't even remember at this point. Skip the boone and crockett model as they take some of the best features out for price reduction.
