It will take them, but accuracy might not be so hot. Kind of like shooting .308 bullets in an Enfield or Arisaka with a .311 bore. When I used them in my 280 I was surprised when I got good accuracy. The more serious problem is gas leaking past that undersized bullet and chewing up the grooves.Who stocks .288 caliber bullets? It does not take standard .284/ 7mm bullets.
