This is the last day of deer season . I went out to warm my truck up and my nose froze together when I took a breath , it's 6 degrees . I think I am crazy to still hunt today , but it is the last day until Nov. . I know it is colder in other parts of the country and I don't know how you take it , yes I know about layering , but sitting still it's brutal out there . I will see how long I can take it , I hope the wind does not blow . It will have to be a big one for me to take my hands out of my gloves to skin it .

Well the temperature reading I got from my computer before I left the house was wrong , it was O degrees and the wind started blowing pretty good about 10:00 am . It was ruff out there , my fingers are tingling and stiff now as I type and my toes are almost back to feeling normal and my face is bright red and a little numb .

I didn't get a deer today but I saw about 6 or 7 does running together . All week does were in , but I don't shoot them . Now it is on to rabbits to the end of February .

Driving a few farms in the morning and sitting a farm with 400 acres of non hunting surrounding it in afternoon. Just looking for a big doe and tomorrow will probably end my 2017-2018 season. I have until feb 10 to deer hunt but I'll probably quit this weekend. Good luck to all still hard at it.

I wish we had some around here I haven't seen one in years. Hawks are over populated and coyotes too.

Red Rick,

I was out in Va, The Shenandoah Valley area, on Saturday as well. It was brutal! I had 4 layers on, but by the time I went in, 4 weren't enough. I passed up a decent 4 point and a very nice looking doe just because I didn't want to deal with the process after the shot. I like even numbers, but the cold made me content with 3 whitetail for the 2017-18 season!
