Saturday was the first day of Oklahoma deer muzzleloader season. Got into a low blind overlooking a wheat field at about 06:00. Numerous deer came in, all well out of range. At about 07:45 a lone doe began grazing about 80 yards away. Wanted a broadside shot but deer did not cooperate.
Attitude: Quartering to
Range: About 80 yards
Rifle: TC Encore .50 caliber muzzleloader
Scope: Zeiss 4X
Bullet: 250 grain SST in crush rib sabot
Powder: 120 grains of Black MZ
Primer: Winchester 209
Doe went down at the shot, kicked for about 30 seconds and lay still. The animal was large for an OK deer and very fat.
Camera angle makes deer look larger.
