Last Friday I stopped by a gun store near my car dealership and found a vintage Charter Arms Undercover .32 in about 90% condition for $165. The shop also had a set of wrap-around factory grips for $25 dollars; also picking up a box of ammo, the whole thing cost me about $230. This is by far one of my best gun store finds. I can't wait to take it to the range.

Charter arms Stratford Conn.

I have one just like it , but different grips made in Stratford Conn. They were the best little snub nose revolvers that were made by the Original Charter arms. All blue steel and nicely polished. I also have an undercover 38 special that I keep on my night stand. I like the way they were made , without a side plate, similar to the Ruger SP101, and a very short hammer throw. You have a nice one. They are pleasant to shoot too. Have fun with it.

Your .32 gun was officially called the Undercoverette back in the 1970's. FYI it will safely fire .32ACP ammo as well as .32 Short and .32 Long.

.32 acp ? Are you sure ? I wouldn't have thought that possible, being a short rimless round and all.

The .32 ACP is semi-rimmed, and will work in revolvers. It fires and extracts w/o a problem. The ACP ammo is a good alternative to expensive hard-to-find .32 Long ammo.
The recoil with FMJ loads is still mild.

32 acp

I agree with Starter 52, The semi rimmed 32 ACP cartridge can be safely fired and extracted from the 32 undercover and is a little hotter than the anemic 32 S&W long. Also, be sure to turn the revolver barrel up when extracting to keep the cases from getting caught under the extractor, since they are shorter. I have fired hundreds of rounds through my little charter arms, like his with no problems at all.

I have a question.

I have a small H&R .32 S&W long snubnose revolver. Can I shoot 32 ACP in it also?
