Haven’t acquired anything worth sharing lately until today. Picked up this as close to mint as they come Model 686-1 with according to the seller, original factory combats. They are stamped 1987 and the serial number shows gun was shipped in 1987. It’s entirely possible they are original but I’ll never spring for a letter just to know for sure. The gun is really nothing special, but the grips are spectacular. Pictures don’t do them justice. Hope you guys enjoy 9E6AAB2F-EEAF-409E-8A74-E76EED91E6FC.jpeg CF752ABC-8102-496D-871F-558FE855FE25.jpeg

Not to offend but, the grips do nothing for me.

Now..... That pistol-those dimensions, yes PLEASE!

Todd.

Very cool indeed!

I LOVE the look and feel of the Smith cocobolo combat grips... until I shoot the gun. Then <sigh> I long for a Pachmayr or a Hogue grip...:(

Stay safe.

I’m not a huge fan of zebra wood but it’s a beautiful revolver. If the grips are in fact original to the gun then that does nothing for me other than make it further from possible as it drives up the value as a collectible.

Another awesome S&W score! Always liked the Model 686 with a shorter barrel!

Put me in the love those grips group. Great revolvers. Mine is a 686-3, and not as nice visually, but shoots great.

I really like your gun over all. It really is a perfect example of a "combat" revolver to my eyes.

That's the same way I felt about the Ruger Speed Six with a 2 3/4" barrel!
