Give me a laundry list of Equipment and accessories I need so I can get to range ASAP

Please offer more than 1 choice if possible. I went to bass pro today and they really didn't have much. Didn't even have 1 pistol in BP.

So I ordered a pietta 1858 army with the 5 1/2" barrel, extra cylinder, cylinder loading block and some wonder wads.

Tanks.

Im doing everything on the cheap

This is what im using now

Blackpowderstuff_zpsef066cef.jpg

I measure the powder with the 357 mag shell, then the filler with the 9mm shell. wonder wad to hold everything in.

I put the cylinder back into the frame and ram the balls in the frame.

slip on the percussion caps and im ready to fire.

I started with rolling bugler rolling papers using the same 357 mag load and a half 9mm filler rolled up and then i would put everything in at the range.

one scoop is a 9mm on one side, 9mm cut down on the other. ive gone back and forth with the 9mm and 1/2 9mm with filler. I use the 9mm for .36 powder scoop and the .22 for filler for the .36

IMO the fun part of black powder is being creative and just testing different loads till you find the right powder and load your gun likes.

What Bower said +1!!! But Randy, you said you shoot rifles but are they flinters or percussion? If percussion then you already know the drill but the tools you have for your rifles may not necessarily fit your revolver such as the nipple wrench. The pick should work regardless of nipple size. I don't know where you live but here it is real easy to get stuff for a muzzleloader but depending on where you live that may not necessarily be the case.

I have two percussion rifles. One is a Thompson Hawken and the other is a CVA Accura V2 inline which I use for hunting. Though I have not fired the Hawken in years I do use the CVA on a regular basis.

The pistol I bought is coming from Cabela's and it does come with a "starter kit".

Starter kit includes:
Package of 30 grease seal wads.
Package of 30 lubricated felt wads.
30 lead balls (.451 in. diameter)
Double-ended, heat-treated nipple wrench.
In-line capper.
Molded plastic powder flask
Adjustable brass powder measure.
(Powder and percussion caps not included)
Plastic powder flask has a non-removable cap/spout. The
spout has a rubber end cap.

I also bought a jar of Ox-yoke Wonder seals.

Dont make it hard. Fill the measure you are going to use, pour it into the cylinder, put a wad oh it, press it on the powder, put a ball on top of that, press it in snug, do all the remaining cyls, I leave one empty for under the hammer, then cap it and fire away. Google you tube and get a video of how its done. They have some good ones. Happy shooting

All you need Randy is a tin o' caps and a pound o' powder.

That and a .45acp shell glued to the end of a posicle stick (for use as a measure) is precisely what I went to the range with my first time :).

Also used a cleaning rod, patches and a squirt bottle of moose milk when i got done though.

Yeah ive switched to a 45 auto shell because its nice and short. The auto has a nice ridge at the bottom to twist the wire around and since its short and fat it fits nice in the powder jug.

Good Start

You will also need to get a Nipple Wrench that works. The one in the starter pack is not worth a darn except for the nipple pick. Steel used to make the wrench is so soft it will round off or break on first use.
Cabella's sell a Cash ratcheting nipple wrench for revolvers #10 caps, works great on the revolver you have ordered and will last for years.
Shoot safe.
