This was my last day to deer hunt. Was hoping to try out one of my new muzzle loaders, but with this weather and my hunting spot is an hour north of me, decided I would just hold up in the warm house today.
No snow today here. High temp -10, now -12 on the way to over -30. On Thurs. when it was 6 below my 1862 Police needed two thumbs to cock it with bore butter on the arbor. today I put it outside for a few hours with Gun Grease on the arbor and it turned nicely.
8-10" here absolute blizzard. Very dangerous. I was out in it tonight for a couple hours rescuing our road comissioner.. He ditched the ten wheeler with 10 tons of rock for weight trying to plow snow. I dragged him back up on the road with my Cat tracked tractor. Somehow managed to lose my hat and extra gloves while hooking up chains. Ultra cold temps and blowing snow make everything you do 50x more difficult. Dont go out in this weather, you put yourself and others at risk.
To keep thios gun related.... I moved my emergency bag from my hunting coat to my work coat when I went out in this tonight. It made me feel a bit better having it along.
Dang. It hasn't snowed here in something like 40 years. I'll be stopping by the range on my way home from work to pop a few caps and throw a few sparks. It'll be a chilly 67 degrees or so.
