LCP carriers - Hollow Point or Ball?

Based on my research I settled on the Hornady XTP .380 90gr. Seemed to be the best mix of 12" of penetration plus some expansion. The local gun shop had Hornady American Gunner on sale which looks to be the same exact stuff as the Hornady Custom but for less money.

I carry ball ammo in mine. That's what the owner's manual recommends, and I haven't had time to take it to the range and experiment.

I use ball in mine also but I'm curious where you found a recommendation for ball ammo in the owner's manual. I could not find it. I did find the following:
The RUGER® LCPTM pistols are compatible with standard factory ammunition loaded to U.S. Industry Standards, including hollow-point loads loaded in brass or aluminum cases.

Not trying to bust your chops, just curious.
