Any one have info on loading a 165gr lead bullet in the 7.62x39 rifle. Is the round to heavy to use.I've got a couple hundred 165gr heads that I would like to set up for just plinking.
I keep meaning to cast some up to use myself, but always get sidetracked. When I run out of the 123 JSP I have, I'll be doing the same.
Over at castboolits.gunloads.com, there is a sticky on loading cast for the 7.62x39mm. Are they gaschecked, and if not, are they cast for gas checks? If not, you really shouldn't consider using those in a gas operated rifle, AK/SKS/etc, but bolt only at low velocities.
Why should you not use lead non gas checked in a gas operated rifle???
I have 10's of thousands of plain lead rounds thru my SKS and 30 cal. Carbine. Never have cleaned the gas chamber and have yet to experience the 1 st. problem.
