Leather holster safe for a nice 1911?

Kydex marred the finish on my Sig 226 quickly so I'd go with leather. I don't advise storing in a leather holster and I only use kydex for my polymer gun(Shield). I've got a nice 40 year old DW revolver that would be nearly perfect if someone hadn't left it in leather for too long.

This gun will be 100 percent indoor use only. . . I have heard that leather holds moisture and can cause rust issues.
If you want it to remain nice, al la "indoor use only" then you don't need a holster. You need a gunsock and a humidity controlled safe.

I've seen more rust from gun rugs stored safely in a humid environment than anything else. I carry in leather daily in the South, and have never had a problem from carry.

And I do plan to wipe it down with an oiled cloth daily.
No you won't, because no one does that.

Get a gun you're willing to use, or decide to use this one.

watch what leather is used to make the holster. chrome tanned leather will eat the finish off the firearm. veg tanned is better. when i make a holster,i glue two pieces of leather rough side in so it will have good leather inside and out.

I have a Charter Arms revolver & two (carbon steel) knives that I store in leather all the time & show no signs of corrosion.

I think certain types of leather are more corrosive than others but I'm no expert on the subject.
Chrome tanned leather is a no go. Vegetable/oil tanned only for holsters and knife sheaths.

Nobody uses chrome tanned leather for a holster, unless it's an exotic overlay. In which case, it never touches the gun.
