I got a Lee Autoprimer that I'm very happy with. I've loaded primers (CCI) in about 200 .45 cases.
I'm also in the process of reading the Lee Reloding Manual. So what to my wandering should appear but a warning that I should never (heavy emphasis on never) use Federal primers of any kind with the Autoprime tool.
According to the manual they're "too dangerous" :what:.
Has anyone else heard or read about this?
Moe importanatly, have any of you used Federal Brand primers in one and did it blow up in you face  ?

Lee has consistently warned against using Federal primers in any of their equipment except the single loaded hand prime tool. Federals are more sensitive than other brands and Lee says if you fire a Federal primer in one of their primer feed tools that the rest are likely to gang-fire. They say that only Winchester and CCI are safe in their equipment; Remingtons are not as bad as Federal but are worse than the others.

At one time Dillon recommended against Federals but have withdrawn the warning.

I take it all with a grain of salt, and consider it a CYA against clumsy and stupid customers and their lawyers. I have never popped any brand of primer in any make of reloading tool and do not consider it a hazard the way I work. But I have only been handloading since 1970 and I could blow up today when I resume loading after lunch.

I've also heard it, but never paid any attention to it. I've never had a problem using anybody's primers in one. Being the cheapskate I am, I just buy what's on sale, and hardly ever go near max loads where a specific primer must be used. In twenty plus years of reloading, I've never had a primer blow up using an Autoprimer.

Sorry folks,
I posted this before doing a search. I just did one and found the answer I was looking for.
Also, a close friend who has owned one for many years said that he has never had a single (let alone a multiple) detonation of any brand of primer. And he has used thousands of all the different brands. :D
Thanks for all your comments and suggestions.
