I have a brand new Lee Classic Cast press. I am impressed with the quality and ease of use. However, when resizing and decapping, the old primer gets spit out the side of the ram half the time rather than going through it and down the tube. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure what you do wrong, but I do the same. ;)
Maybe not half, but 1 in 4 doesn't go down the tube like they're supposed to.

I emailed Lee about the spitting problem. Their response is below:

Make sure that you have the primer arm installed in the press, either large
or small. Without the primer arm, primers can bounce off the cross pin.
With the arm installed, the arm will deflect primers down the ram.

My response: I don't want the primer arm in the way if I'm not priming. I use a different priming method. Otherwise this is a near perfect press IMHO.

Ah, that might explain why some doesn't have any problem, while some of us do. Like you I also prime using other methods.

Mine does the same thing. A piece of Scotch tape over the slot solved the problem for me.

Good Luck...

Problem solved - sorta

I installed the primer arm and did some resizing and decapping this evening. 100% of the primers went down the ram into the tube like they're supposed to. The primer arm really doesn't get in the way unless you lower the ram all the way down. At that point it makes the shell harder to get out of the shell holder until you lift it back up. It's not really a big deal, but I wish it didn't have to be in the way at all. It would be better if they included a separate piece instead of the primer arm that didn't interfere at all. Not a big deal.
