It looks like the handle/linkage on the classic cast press can be adjusted so that a full stroke is not necessary with shorter cases, such as in pistol cartridges (except for priming, where the ram must return to the bottom of its stroke). The idea is the top of stroke of the handle against the bench would be adjusted so as to take the ram down only far enough to work the length of brass you have.
You can also shorten the effective length of the handle to shorten the handle stroke even more, at the expense of leverage.
Does anyone adjust their handle to shorten the stroke on pistol brass? Or am I missing something?
