I love my Lee Classic Turret and it works great on pistol. The Auto disk powder measure will not dump enough powder however to load large rifles. I tried mounting an RCBS Uniflow on the turret but it will not pass the safety prime. Does anyone know of a device that will raise the uniflow up enough to pass by the safety prime or some accessory that will automate the uniflow to dump like the Auto Disk does.

Yes, I mount a Uniflow on mine. Buy either the RCBS or Hornady case activated powder drop. That will raise the Uniflow high enough and will give you case activated powder drop as well.

Here's a picture:

The Uniflow is set to dispense the maximum amount of powder possible and just clears. If you set anything like a reasonable load, the Uniflow will clear by a half an inch or better.

Dave

Dave is there anyway to set up the Uniflow so that it will expand the case mouth of handgun rounds in one step, like the Auto Disk with the powder-through expander die works?

If I could do that, I would use the Uniflow for all my powder measure needs, and quit using the pro auto disk.

The newer style Hornady case activated powder drop takes inserts that will do what you want to. Check it out at hornady.com or call and ask Hornady about it.

Dave

Oddly enough I had read an earlier post of Dave’s regarding mounting the Hornady and RCBS Uniflow powder measures to the Lee Classic Cast Turret Press and recently e-mailed him about it. That earlier post was the deciding factor for me in purchasing the LCCTP and I would most certainly like to learn more about the Hornady case activated powder inserts Dave is referring to because of the proven versatility of the Uniflow powder measure. Also as an aside for Blanco, Lee offers a riser for the Lee auto disc specifically to clear the new primer system.

Hey guys if you need to purchase either a RCBS Uniflow or Hornady powder measure there are plenty to be had on eBay right now. That is where I picked up my 3rd one for my bench for $40 shipped with both drums. Then all you need to find is the Case Activated Linkage, sometimes those show up too.

Thanks, Dave for the information. I have been to midway and they do have the case activator in the catalog but is on backorder at this time. Now that I know what I am looking for, it should be a snap to set this up. And Creekwalker, I have the Lee Autoriser mounted on my Lee Auto Disk. It would not work without it. For anyone out there that is just getting started, Buy the auto riser, or your Auto Disk will not pass the safety prime. The auto riser will not work with the Uniflow, which is why I was looking for an alternative solution. Thanks again for all who helped.

You're welcome. If Midway doesn't have them, check around. If you're only reloading rifle, the RCBS version does great. Not sure if it takes the Hornady powder through expanders though.

Regards,

Dave

Blanco,

Your right the LCCTP won't work w/o the Autoriser if you use their new Safety Prime set up. Now if you hand prime before loading it's another story. I'm the most intrested in the Hornady case activated powder drop set up along with the RCBS Uniflow PM.
