i currently have the lee challenger anniversary kit. for taxes i plan on upgrading to the lee classic turret to speed things up. i had been considering the lee progressives but i've read too many bad reviews on them. i'm looking more for the classic turret kit as the prices are usually better with kits. i plan on using it mainly for .223 and various pistol rounds. anyone know where i can find a good deal? i'm not in a hurry to buy it or anything, just keeping my eyes open for a good deal and highly considering it. i'll still keep my single stage for bigger rifle rounds and for depriming and resizing because i wet tumble.

here's what I've found so far for a good deal...
$184

$219.95 + $14.95 (for pro disc upgrade)

Kemp has a great kit, pretty much all i'm looking for except fsreloading has a better deal and the purchase of dies would come to be about the same.

wait for bds to get on here i swear he has super powers when it comes to finding a good deal :D also that is a great press

i love the single stage but sometimes it's a pain changing everything back and fourth. i've read many good reviews on the classic turret and feel comfortable with the upgrade.

Just ignore the original post below, I went and looked at that kit at FS and I would buy it in a heartbeat its a great start. When I got my kit I still had to order the safety prime and the autodisk riser seperately :(

----Most of the 'kit' pieces are the same as the one you have. As someone who bought the turret kit I would just buy the press itself and spend the extra on spare turrets.---

I know but like i mentioned before, buying a kit sometimes is cheaper than buying just the press. as an example the price of the press and the pro disc measure is almost as much a the kit. Sure it may come with something i already have but i can give it away or sell it.

You will love the turret, once you get a rhythm going it's hard to stop.
i did notice that with the single stage. I loaded on average 100 rounds an hour and measured everything. I usually did about 150 rounds per night and most was 300. Now i'm out of bullets to load.

I use a Lee Classic turret press and I can safely load between 180 and 200 handgun rounds per/hour. (sometimes a little more) I like the setup...

also check lee and maybe give them a call i hear they some times sell refurb units for half off

I agree - I find it to be rather zen-like. My bench is downstairs. I go down, ready the press, turn on talk radio and the next thing I know an hour has passed and there is a tray of 150-to-200 9mm bullets in front of me.

You will not be disappointed with the LCT. Great press. I finally bought one and liked it so well I sold my old RCII and bought the classic cast single stage. The RCII is a great press but the Lee classics are more user friendly to me.

so according to the kit, all i need to get to load .223 on this besides the dies is the rifle powder through die and double disc kit?

Kemf includes a set of dies so it's kind of a tie as to price. I also suggest you buy another beam balance scale. The Lee scale works but is a real pain to use. To me it's a give away or throw away. A good scale is you most important tool.

With the LCTP you can also use it just like your single stage, just take the turret rod out and it's a single. You just turn the dies instead of screwing them in and out. For loading rifle yes you can use the double discs but my suggestion is to start with the Lee PP measure. It actually works and dispenses well. You can double check on you scale. Slower yes, but you see what you are doing.

Don't forget you're going to need a case trimmer of some kind for the .223 cases.

i got a gift card at gander for my birthday last week and i plan on buying the lyman case trimmer with it. Maybe the dillon swager too online.

If you already have the Anniversary kit, don't bother with the LCT kit, just get the LCT and any accessories you'll want. Otherwise you'll be doubling up on items you already have. Better that you spend the dollar difference to get the autoprime etc., than to have 2 Lee scales and 2 Lee manuals.

I just bought this from Natchez...
Lee Classic Turret Press - $94.99, Lee Pro Auto Disc Powder Measure - $35.49, Lee Rifle Charging Die - $9.99, Lee Double Disc Kit - $9.99, Extra 4 Holle Turret - $8.99...total $159.45/$177 Shipped. I ordered individualy ONLY what I need to load, rather than paying for a "Kit" with stuff I don't need...then having to order what I DID need for it. I have 8# of fresh IMR4227, and an RCBS .30 Carbine die set. I THINK I have EVERYTHING I need to load up a thousand rounds...including the primers, pull-down cases, and plated bullets. I did a BUNCH of research on Progressives before settling on the Lee Classic, and a bunch of searching to find the best prices on the Lee equipment...

Trigga,

That is a great price! I just paid $217.00 shipped for the kit. Mine arrived today and I couldn't be happier with the purchase except that I wish I would have know about Titan before I bought mine.

I think the best classic turret kit is at www.kempfgunshop.com because it comes with everything but the Lee scale. If you already reload then you should already have a scale. Make sure to upgrade to the pro auto disk powder measure.

just bought the classic turret kit from titan; along with 223 and 9mm dies. wow, both lee and titan are in hartford. that's like an hour from here.
