I just put together my first progressive press and I went with the LEE Load master… yes… yes Dillon, Dillon, Dillon... Hornady, Hornady, Hornady yes I know… but let me tell you why I went with LEE LM.
After reading everything I could on all three presses and viewing youtube until my eyes popped-out I came to one conclusion. Dillon dies are the best hands down. Hornady has the powder drop and is better with flak than Dillon or LEE. I use Unique for 9, 40 and 357 Sig.
I clean, decap and size on a single stage uses Dillon’s sizer/decapping die then I clean the brass again.
By sizing and decapping being done on another press the LEE Load Master offers up 5 stations. So I ordered the LEE Load Master and installed Dillon dies, Hornady Case Activated Powder Drop and Redding bullet seating die.
I also heve the LEE case and bullet feeder.
In the LEE Load Master station #:
1 open
2 Hornady Case Activated Powder Drop
3 RBSC lock-out die
4 Redding Competition Bullet Seating Die
5 Dillon crimp
Load Master w/ Case loader $249.00
LEE bullet loader $40.00
Hornady Powder Drop $110.00
RBSC lock-out die $54.00
Redding Competition Seating Die $79.00
Dillon Dies $63.00
Total $541.00 and with an easy 400 hundred rounds in hour, What’s not to like.
I am very happy with the setup and it is a very easy press to set up and operate.
Sure it will need some adjusting down the road but I like to tinker around with things so that is not going to be problem.
