And that’s why I love mine. I’ve had it over 10 years and had a minor priming issue early on but Lee took care of me quickly. Loaded probably 250,000 rounds on it and she is still going strong.

that looks pretty slick! I guess the primer feed system is a lot better. Just a suggestion for next time, turn your phone sideways into landscape mode :)

The one I had was probably one of the earliest and was nothing but trouble. I'm almost tempted to try a new one. Just not yet. I'm not back up to high volume shooting for metallics. Do need a couple hundred 12 ga trap loads a week, however, which my Grabber and 9000 take care of handily.

I have an older grabber 761R. It sees it fair share of hulls. It's a good press.

I have had my Grabber since 1980 and have fun well over 150k shells through it. Even had to replace the crimp station.

Maybe I missed it but did not see any checking to make sure there is powder or not or a double charge in the case. You can't do that setting down.

Oh yeah. Easy. It's just in the case. I can see the powder shine or reflect on the brass or in case of a double charge I can see it close to the rim. And if I can't see a reflection of powder I check it.

I actually talked about watching for powder when I missed rotating the case feeder. Eyes are always on powder in the case before bullet placement.

Time- 4:10. Watch there for 12 seconds and listen. I talk about it.

So I watched the video and did a time count for rounds including case, primer and powder fill. I discounted my split case and pointing out things. I loaded 100 rounds including restock in 8 mins and 53 seconds. So at that pace with refilling that is 533 rounds an hour. Seems close. I did a timer and got to 573 when I timed myself. So I guess an average of 550 rounds an hour. I know I filled powder when I didn't need too but I wanted a base line for it. Anyways that's flat out getting it on a press for the money. So all the lee bashing, don't listen they are great for the money and do just as well as all the other colors.

I'm not shocked. I am certain there are more Lee press users in the nation than any other brand by far, users making or have made millions of rounds on them, and most of those users don't even know they are junk. ;)

Loadmaster is a great peice of kit. Loaded tens of thousands on mine. Good video but I believe that’s normal operation for a Loadmaster.

The press (or any press) should not move while you’re using it. Mount it solid. For anyone else using a Loadmaster, a solid mount will prevent a lot of priming problems and powder problems.

My only complaint is leverage. Could use a little more for tapered ammo such as 9x19. Bought an XL650 to load 9x19.

I have had a Lee Breech Load press since 2009 and loaded a lot on it. But where Lee fails is the primer feeding. I just do it by hand on the press that way I know its done. I always stand up to load, even if I am a little over 70. Been reloading since 1992 and never any issues.

For serious loading when I was shooting bowling pins and more with 45 ACP, either a Dillon Square D B or 550B. Yes mount your press solid, mine is on an aluminum 1/2 inch thick plate with a C clamp to the bench.

I have picked up a LM for 2018. Been VERY happy with it. Most issues have been resolved by changing how I operate/prep the machine and cases. I can load 100 in about 10-12 min when running smooth. I don't really load for huge volumes in one sitting. Just pump out 1-200 each night of the week that I plan to shoot, after everyone is in bed to calm my mind. Makes for plenty of ammo ready for the weekend when needed.

The new updated Loadmaster looks a lot better. I ordered this yesterday >Lee 4 Hole Turret Press with Auto Index Value Kit it has also been updated. I do not need the scale or the rest but it was cheaper to order as a Kit than piece by piece. I will sell off what I don't need from the kit.

I used a flashlight and mirror like this.

In operation.

Just ordered a Loadmaster kit in 9mm from Walmart.com for $182.85 with free shipping. Supposed to be delivered Friday. Can't wait to get it set up and going. Hopefully it will work better than the cheap turret press that keeps messing up the little square plastic thing that makes the turret rotate.

That's a very good price, better than Amazon. I usually buy from either Amazon or Midway USA.

My LM reloaded probably 20,000 rounds over its lifetime and now lives in a box under the bench. I finally got tired of its unpredictable nature. It would load 300 rds. without a hiccup, I'd stop to answer the phone and getting back into production it couldn't go 3 rounds without seating a primer sideways, upside down or missing altogether. I tried everything anyone suggested, spent a lot of time talking to Lee Customer Service, and even sent it back to them twice. Dillon gives me no such heartburn...

I think your frustration is the thought behind the primer system on this new press... K I S S.

I recently bought a two year old Load Master, I've loaded about 1K rounds with it so far, (9mm & 45acp). Going from a turret to a progressive, there is a lot more going on to watch. The LM does need to have everything just right for it to work, I can understand why some REALLY hate it. I have a long mechanical background so tinkering comes natural. Other than REALLY seeing the benefit of separating small primer brass from large primer brass, (never 'popped' a primer on my turret, first week with the LM, 'popped' three of 'em. Embarrassing every time the wife stuck her head into the garage to see what I did 'this time'), yes, trying to put a large primer into a small primer case doesn't work. Both large and small primer systems are working just fine, so far. Both the small and large primer systems are the newest ones.

hearing that they are better now, I am tempted just to try one dedicated to 1 caliber. I have so much blasted money tied up in my other presses, it might just be worth a shot for less than $200

thanks for sharing the video. I always love watching mechanical things in smooth operation. particularly progressive reloading presses.

Ok so against my better judgment I ordered a new Lee Safety prime system last night for my new coming today Auto Turret press 2018 series. Every priming system I have ever used from Lee has had issues, maybe this one is improved ?

Yes always inspect your brass without fail. Otherwise if you like surprises just skip that step.
