I had a primer explode today in my loadmaster gave me quite
a startle . I had the explosion shield they make for it on the
machine . It didn't do to much though it didn't even
break the primer slider .
Any one else have problems ?
Mine works good for a while then it misses a primer then the next
one gets smashed . First time one popped though . I keep an eye one the primer shoot to make sure it is full .

Have used a Loadmaster for 10+ years (just about since they came out, whenever that was) and have never had a primer detonate. I was teaching my kid to load 45 ACP tonight and we got one primer that went in sideways but it didn't go off.

I have not installed the detonation shield on my machine. Did it protect you from any flying debris, that you could tell?

I'm not familiar with how the primers are held in the Lee machine, but back in the late 70's, when I was rangemaster for the department I worked for, I loaded all the .38 special training ammunition on an Ammo-Load automatic machine, which is motor driven. The primer tube held 200 primers and I had that machine explode on me twice. I can tell you that 200 or so primers make one heck of a boom and scares the crap out of you. It also does damage to the machine.

Always keep any blast shields in place and wear eye protection.

The primary use of the shield is to protect you if the entire tray explodes.
