Lee powder measure duo drum leaking

I started with lee....majority of my dies are lee, press is a lee.....and I have several of their powder drops, I now use another way to get the magic bang dust into the gold holdy thing. I was pulling my hair out.....and I don't have much left.

It was all over the board, light drops, heavy drops.....and we are talking .5 swing.....this is not a real good thing. I discovered it before I blew myself up but I really don't trust any of their powder.....machines I guess I will say.

I could not stand the leaking and if you want to do fine powders for-get-it.

Seeing FPS numbers all over the planet is what tipped me off at start.....then I started weighting every charge....seeing them swing all over really worried me....I shoot some old stuff, with weak actions....no one will ever say a trapdoor is a strong 45-70 action. Now if you are tossing a drop for a 45-70 type load in a trapdoor but shooting it out of a marlin lever, I doubt you will have issues....but you don't want to be fooling with this stuff, makes putting holes in things where you want the hole a bit difficult.

I will generally pick up lee die's first, then if I get crazy with a specific flavor I might buy a different companies die's just to see what that extra money gets me, and really (I) don't notice a difference.

I am happy with lee, but their powder handling is pure junk......sorry, and that comes from a lee fanboi.

With a product description of: "Precision machined body with labyrinth groove provides a leak free fit with the finest powders", it sucks to have to deal with this. Don't own one, .

This and all your "expert commentary" yet you don't even have one! Why stop at the powder measure and molds, how about Lee dies and presses?
I own a RCBS and a Hornady powder measure also, so what? The OP is not asking for a review.

Seems several hundred "lemmings" out there disagree with your assessment.

Now don't let the simple fact that someone does not own a specific item stop him from trashing it...after all he likely has "used" one, or has a friend....or better yet several friends that own them and they all agree with his conclusions.

They are a great value.
The can work perfectly.
Some require adjusting.
Some folks don’t go to the trouble to adjust them properly or even to find out how. Others do.
There are probably a few units out there that need to be exchanged, as with any brand

The same can be said for any mechanical apparatus.

I have an early issue Auto Drum and yes it leaked, also broke and jammed twice in the 1st year. Both times I sent it back and both times I had it back within 4 days of the day I sent it. Both times it returned with a list of new parts and a description of what was done. The last time it came back with both new drums with the machined surfaces. Since then it has been problem free with no leakage and that is using AA#2, AA#5, HP-38 and Ramshot Silhouette. The Accurate and Ramshot powders are much finer than the HP-38 and I get more spillage from the cases turning on the progressive press than I do from the measure.

To some of the others I am assuming that you are not using those Lyman or RCBS measures on top of a progressive press and mounted to a powder thru die.
Mines a early one broke once sent back still leaks. I have a turret that needs a measure seems there has been changes made to the newer ones.I’m going to buy another one and if works the old ones going back to Lee. I’m willing to take a chance because of the price and I like the way they should work.

I own 4 Lee Autodrum powder measures. All work very well, consistently and little or no leaking. Yes, I use W231.
One of them leaked at first. I took it apart, cleaned it I found a small nib of plastic on the bearing surface, so I trimmed that off then applied some graphite and reassembled. It's my best powder measure now.

Cleaning and lubing with graphite is a critical part of preparing ALL Lee powder measures that many miss.

For some people, it's easier to whine about things than to work with them, I guess. You get what you pay for, it's said. I paid for some good, economical measures and I got them.
