I never had a problem with this unit using AA2230 ok just a little bit but since I switched to TAC
I have a big problem. when the shell plate swings the charged cartridge to the seating die when it stops the piece of brass throws a bit of powder forward.
after loading 400 rounds today I weighed the lost powder and it almost added up to a full 25 gr I see a shower of powder everytime the shell plate stops.
I thought it was leaking from the PPM but it is actually being thrown from the loaded case on its next stop to the seating die. is it the really light weight of the powder grains causing this or the abrupt stop of the shell plate between stations.? what may or not be a contributing factor is I removed the primer system from the press as I hand prime all my reloads.
HELP!

I ran into a similar problem with my Loadmaster. I'd imagine it's a problem with all auto-indexing presses. Maybe use a bit less oomph on the handle if possible. If I don't man-handle the lever on my Loadmaster, but use a consistant push, I can advance to the next stage without tossing my powder around.

If you haven't done it recently, I would recommend a "detail strip and clean of your Pro 1000. I did that this spring after I got mine out after eight years, and I found the effort to stroke was as much as a (guesstimated) 25% less.

I got in some replacement parts and took apart the carriers as well; the measure, the dies, everything. Since this was done in one swell foop, I can't tell you of any particular improvement from a given part in the process. I did note that carrier subassemblies were pretty grunged up from powder going in from missed primers. (FWIW, my primer feed now works perfectly--I found cleaning it and lubricating it with a minimum dry graphite lube solved that.) Check the linkage, and the ram--lubricate everything.

That lower effort to stroke will make it easier to be smooth, which FieroCDSP points out will probably solve the problem.

I use a very low volume powder (Titegroup) and I find that almost eliminates the problem with powder splashing when the carrier plate indexes to the stop ball. WHen the cases are not real full, powder won't flip out of the case. I also found that putting my finger on the case as it indexes around before it stops helps; I put the new bullet in my thumb and forefinger and let the middle finger of the same hand cover the case mouth as the index turns, then I am ready to drop the new bullet on the case when it stops.
