I have a pro 1000 that recently started acting up. It has worked perfectly for 1000+ rounds but now it is not indexing correctly. I have replaced the hex ratchet gear and the drive bolt but haven't had any luck getting it running. can somebody please help I am starting to get very frustrated with this thing.

I would first check the shellplate timing. The shellplate should click into station as the shellplate carrier approaches the base. To adjust the timing, turn the large Phillips head bolt clockwise with a screwdriver.

The center hex rod should be lubed regularly to index the shellplate smoothly. Before each reloading session (and whenever the shellplate doesn't index smoothly during the session), I put a drop of motor oil on my finger tip and lightly coat the top and bottom of the hex rod and cycle a few times until the shellplate index smoothly.

What do you mean not indexing correctly? If the timing's off, the timing adjustment screw on the carrier is a simple adjustment.

Need more info. If the other suggestions don't work you my need to adjust the carrier.

The adjustment screw is under the shell plate, on the left side as you look at it. As others have said that sounds like your problem. Now if you did a 1000 rounds without a single cleaning that might cause some problems also. If you have seen the video by Cowboy T then I suggest you do as in spite of some of comments he does know the Pro 1000 press. I think is site is San Fransisco Liberal with a Gun.

Why do you think it needs cleaned so often? Do you have problems with powder leaking? I've heard of some people having problems with powder but none of mine leak & I have yet to clean anything on it in a year or better.

I have adjusted the shell plate timing. when i say it is not indexing correctly i mean that the shell plate starts off in the right position but only gets about 3/4 to the next postion.

bds, i will try lubing the hex rod, that is one thing that i havent tried yet.

joecil, I have cleaned the press in the past and I actually learned most of what i know about my press form cowboyt's videos.

Thanks for the suggestions, will try lubing the center hex rod and see if that helps.
