Lee pro 6000, has anyone used them successfully without mods?

Still in the process of fine tuning my new (got it a month ago) Six Pack in 9mm. After some 15 years of quite happily using their great Classic Turret I decided to enter the wild & wacky world of watching, hearing and feeling 6 different and interactive things happening at once on a progressive press. It IS a substantial change and learning curve. I'm still making mistakes, correcting errors, wasting primers, getting substantial use out of my RCBS collet bullet puller and successfully making a couple hundred rounds of good ammo that passes my Wilson case gauge test, yes every round. I've found the Inline Bullet Feed kits to be simple to use and quite effective at a reasonable price, like ALL Lee stuff. It will come as no surprise to any progressive press frequent users out there that all press operations need to be in balance for the unit to work smoothly. It's a process and I'm making progress. Hey, I'm 74, retired and know I'm an OLD dog trying to learn how to somersault. LOL

I am using their case feeder with collator, the Auto Drum powder dispenser (great device) without a riser, a Hornady powder cop die, and all 4 Lee 9mm dies. I switched out the provided breech lock o-ring bushings for the LEE color coded bushings with hex head clamping set screws. To make installing/removing them a breeze I use an Amazon bought Gardner Bender LNW-KIT 1/2" locknut wrench. FAR superior to the little Lee plastic wrench.

I'm using mine with no mods. I do have the updates that Lee put out as I got one of the first ones beginning of Nov. I ran about 150 rounds of 9mm just last night to test my new inline bullet feed. Worked well.

Not in 9mm, but my Pro 6000 has been loading .45ACP without any mods...or even any of the updates that Lee has introduced...for closing in on 1k rounds. I loaded both LPP and SPP on it to check primer feeding.

No issues at all once I got the dies properly set up. I've added a riser for the powder measure and the bullet feeder die/magazine

Now that Lee seems to have reached equilibrium in adding updates, I'll likely add them to mine.

Oops, almost forgot. I have added a KMS (squared) lighting system, a Gardner Bender locknut wrench and a Dramworx Pyrex powder hopper

I’ve added the KMS Squared light. I also added a twist tie to the first detent where the primer tray is supposed to shake. This makes it shake a bit more, ensuring that primers are going down the trough. Very minor mod, but a mod nonetheless. I’m having issues with the case feeder, as you may have seen with my current thread. A mod may be needed.

Is it just a “plug n play” so to speak swap for Lee’s hopper?
Yes and No

It does require that you remove the black adapter from the factory hopper and attach it to the metal base of the Dranworx one...then it just slips in...it retains the shut-off feature

I wrapped a bit of blue painter's tape around the adapter to take out some play between it and the powder measure body. Another mod that was more "of convenience" than "necessary to operate."

It is nice that it holds a whole pound of powder and has a removable lid on top for pouring powder back ...when setting your throw weight

I just got mine set up. Wow, frustrating start. It’s a tinkerer’s press in my opinion. Some problems were self-induced though, but lots of primer problems; primers not being picked up, upside down somehow, falling off and getting lodged under the carrier. I have to watch this thing like a hawk. It was better at the end, hopefully I can get it running smoothly. The primer situation was brutal.

These issues have already been discussed and updated by Lee Precision to resolution under "Troubleshooting and Solutions" and "Updated Parts/New Parts" - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-oal-consistency.911743/page-18#post-12564292

The various resolutions and updated parts have been incorporated into "Best Practices" check list to set up the press for initial smooth operation and continued reliable operations here - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...x-pack-pro-pro-6000-kit.913577/#post-12564288

Ugh... that's not fun.

I did use the PEX tubing segment mod for the case collator bin when loading 9mm. I do still get the occasional upside down case but not near as frequently without the mod.
