I have a Challenger breech lock press from Lee and I'm thinking about trying to upgrade it by adding a Lee Pro Auto Disk.

I only reload 100-200 rounds of 45 acp every other week or so and I've toyed with buying a progressive but I just don't know if I need the much "capability" or not.

So my questions are: 1. Can I attached the Auto Disk to the Challenger Press and 2. Is it worth the money and effort to do so?

My line of thinking is that the Auto Disk will significantly decrease how long it takes for me to reload; charging the case is the slowest step for me.

I use the regular autodisc & the time it saves me is immeasureable, flare & drop the charge , done !!
i believe they both will screw into the lee powder thru die system .

works good except some large flake powders give it fits unique, HERCO & 800x come to mind but treating it with powdered graphite & an extra bump of the press handle helps.

& ya need a scale to check actual drop weight !

It should work very well, especially with the breech lock system. I have mounted auto disks on single stage presses in the past and been very happy with the results.

Well, the newest version of the ProAuto Disk requires something (like the bead chain) to reset the disk, or you can use the spring setup that came with the old Auto Disk. You better find out how they work, and how you would install them to your satisfaction on the Challenger. The spring works best for me, your mileage may vary. Both units screw into the Powder Through Expanding Die, the Universal Charging Die, and the Rifle Charging Die.

The Perfect Powder Measure also screws into these dies, and I find it more useful for the single stage Challenger. It is manual, not automatic, but infinitely more adjustable over a much wider (and I mean WIDER) range of charges.

All Lee powder measure can work on the Challenger, but be sure to research reset options for the disks

Works great. I used one on my breech lock for quite a while. Use the spring set up that doesn't use the chain. I now use the Pro Auto on a progressive with some modification to the chain set up.
