I just received my Lee Quick trim Deluxe with the 7.62X39 quick trim Die. It does NOT work as advertised...
The short version of why it does not work properly is because the cutters that chamfer and bevel continue to cut the case and shorten it even after the portion of the cutter that is supposed to cut the case stops cutting. The cases just keep getting shorter and shorter! I removed the PLASTIC pin that holds the chamfer and bevel cutters and removed them and it now cuts to a consistent length. I decided to write a customer review and found a previous review that said he had to remove the ball for the trimmer to work properly. He stated that the trimmer instructions did not have that information, but the die had it in it's instructions (he was using the 223 rem). My die's instruction made no mention of removing the ball so I went to the Lee site and nothing for removing the ball in the 7.62X39 die instruction. Sooooo I clicked on the 223 instructions and sure enough it said to remove the ball but doesn't tell you how to get the trimmer apart to do so I do not wish to destroy the trimmer to figure out how it comes apart...anyone here know how to remove the ball?

Mine worked great, not always perfect de burring. I did find it took a lot more that 8 or however many they said. You need to keep it lubed to spin freely, turn until resisitance stops, more like about 20 quick revolutions. It should not continue to cut, something must be wrong. About the ball, yes it is in the die instructions, it mentions that it is really set for .30 caliber and may be too aggressive with .223. Mine had been working fine, then I read that. I couldnt get that ball out, so I decided to go the other way, tapping out the pin, removing the deburr blades and knock it out from that side. Broke the pin in half removing it, or at least it came out in two pieces, sooo, its running bladless for now.:banghead:

There is a little ring that you can turn that clicks as you turn. Each click equals some amount, I think it was 1/1000th? Whatever, the idea is you can trim "extra" short so you wont have to repeat trimming so often. I just adjusted mine to where it had minimum or no effect for standard length trimming. Maybe yours is set all the way "short"?
